As part of Phukets strong yachting presence, July 2013 has just seen the close of the most successful Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek presented by Mount Gay Rum to date. This year saw the regatta enter its 10th year with a 37-strong fleet.

The 10 years since the event began have seen a quick surge in its popularity. This is due to the fact that the organisers have developed a sailor-focused event with an eye to detail, the demands of the sailors, on and off-the-water, are at the centre of planning and events are formulated accordingly. It is also heralded as one of the most exciting regattas in Asia due to its excellent sailing conditions and accompanying onshore social scene – alongside the four days of high-class yacht racing there are four nights of beachside celebrations!

The regatta was voted ‘Best Asian Regatta of the Year’ at the 2011 Asia Boating Awards and competitors are coming from as far afield as the UK, USA and New Zealand.  The dates for 2014 have already been set: the 11th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Race Week will take place 16th – 20th July at Cape Panwa Hotel.
